That means we've taken an ethical stand and consciously opted not to gouge our customers - and that is just what other companies have been doing for years. Climbing shoes cost very little to manufacture (no matter who makes them) and we price on that foundation not on how much we can sucker out of a client. Secondly, Rockshoe.com operates under efficient overhead to keep our costs low. That means we don't need to pass those expenses on to our customers. Thirdly, we keep prices low by shipping all orders in recycled boxes, paper etc. Lastly, we are headquartered in Alberta, Canada - and that's about the most advantageous place in North America to do business from a tax / efficiency standpoint (not too mention the most beautiful place in world!) So that about sums things up. According to Climbing Magazine, hundreds of our customers, dozens of gyms and of course, ourselves, Bufo Rubber performs as well as any others the market. In fact, both Rock Gear, and Bufo are in favour and have lobbied review and testing bodies to do independent tests which would compare all rubbers presently on the market. In similar European tests, UTOPIA PDS was found to be the best all-round rubber on that continent. We believe that objective facts should influence climbers rather than "invisible" names and flashy advertisements. That said, Bufo Rubber is very durable (I haven't resoled in 2 years) and sticks like a fat kid on Smarties. If you really care, Bufo "UTOPIA PDS" Rubber was inspired from the USSR Military development of a special tarmack rubber used on Aircraft Carriers. i.e. for jet take-off and landing. You can imagine the traction, grip and durability required for that! After years of climbing specified "tweeking" that original formula became Utopia PDS rubber.
